The Public Restroom Company

Hey folks, I'm currently out of town on vacation so no bathroom review this time, but I did stumble upon something while I was out for a walk yesterday in one of my hometown's newest parks. The water fountain I used at the park had the words "The Public Restroom Company" engraved on the side. As a renowned bathroom connoisseur, this piqued my interest, so I did some research. The public Restroom company is apparently a business stationed in Nevada on the cutting edge of public bathroom technology. According to their website, they manufacture and produce state of the art bathroom facilities in their factory to a capacity specified by the customer. Once production is complete, they deliver the bathroom to the customer and install it with a crane! Exciting! My dream has always been to use a toilet as it's being swung through the air at high velocities by a piece of construction equipment. My favorite thing about the Public Restroom Company is that they have various ...

A formal and heartfelt apology to the City of Charleston

I haven't slept all week. I have been denied slumber by a conflict within my self that I myself created. The emotions I have felt since my last Tasteful Public Toilets post reflect an internal conflict the likes of which I am quite unfamiliar with. Some may call it an exciting time of rumination and emotional growth, some may call it insomnia-induced psychosis. Regardless, after a week of grappling with my own words and morality, I feel the need to set the record straight. Last week I wrote here about a troublesome experience that I had while attempting to explore the public toilets in the city that I had grown to love since I moved here three weeks ago. I expressed some distasteful sentiments towards the City of Charleston and the hard working men and women who keep these restrooms clean, safe, and functional for which I would like to apologize. I now realize that the reason for the restrooms being closed was likely not the fault of municipal impropriety, but instead the result o...

Sometimes people let us down.

Sometimes people let us down. And that's okay. We learn to keep our heads up. We grow. We mature and develop through hardships and struggles. At least that's what I've been telling myself for the past couple hours. I am aware of the responsibility that I have undertaken by starting TPT, but sometimes it is difficult to carry on and fulfill my doodies as the author of such an important site. Today was one such example. I left my house a little after 10 am today to go downtown and test drive a couple public toilets that I haven't yet had the pleasure of using, the first of which being the Public Restroom at Camden Garage and the other being the Public Restroom at Meeting House Garage. Both were locked. There was a paper sign taped to the doors of both restrooms that said they were closed. I was gutted. The Charleston Public Restroom system had failed me after all I have done to generate traffic in their bathrooms. I saw a man urinating in a bush just outside of the Meeti...

Public Restroom at Marion Square Garage

This is a solid public restroom. You can definitely find better in Charleston if you talk to the right people, but for an easily accessible, clean enough public restroom, this is reliable option. Because of its high traffic location on King Street, you can easily sneak away from a business meeting, date, or team sport game to relieve yourself all over these facilities and still make it back without anyone noticing. With that said, it is hidden away enough to never have much of a line and the flow of people in and out of this single occupant restroom is quick and efficient, based on my two hours of research standing just around the corner, documenting the bathroom activity of various strangers at this location. Of course, if you're looking for a high quality public restroom experience, you may have to walk an unmanageable distance, but I assure you that this restroom will take care of all your sanitation needs.

Public Restroom at the Visitor's Center

Air conditioning, spacious stalls, and firm water pressure? Am I in heaven? This bathroom is nicer than the bathroom in my own apartment. Sometimes I take a drive down to the visitor's center from my home in Hanahan just to use their facilities. When I'm feeling a little rebellious I sneak a couple squares of their lovely paper into my jacket pocket as a treat for later. Make sure to get here early though because this bathroom is a local hotspot for Charleston public restroom enthusiasts such as myself. Every time I pop a squat in this location I leave feeling refreshed, relieved, and ready to take on the day. As far as I have seen, this is the cleanest, most well-lit public restroom Charleston has to offer. Gosh, to be a fly on the wall in the architect's office while he designed this. Everything from the tiled floors to the quiet gush of the faucets will tickle the senses in the most divine fashion. I especially appreciate the attention to detail paid by the cleaning cr...

Public Restroom at Aquarium Garage Cty

This restroom is one of the nicer ones you'll find in Charleston. Upon arrival, you will see that it is extra spacious and can accommodate both you and a group of your friends at the same time. From the exterior, it seems a little small, but entering this restroom evokes a feeling similar to that of one Harry Potter upon entering Perkin's tent. The walls between the urinals are extremely thick, tall, and long, so you can treat yourself to a worry-free whiz without the thought of potentially being able to see the unspeakable areas of other men weighing on your mind. The toilet paper quality is a little on the lower end, but that is standard for public restrooms. Such is the price enthusiasts like myself pay for the privilege to relieve ourselves in the privacy of a public restroom. During my visit to the Public Restroom at Aquarium Garage Cty, I was actually personally shown into the restroom ten minutes before it was officially scheduled to open by a polite young parking garag...
