Hey, everyone. Today I have a very special review for you all because it is our first edition of Travel Reviews! This will be the series for any bathroom outside of Charleston, South Carolina and the surrounding area. This particular installment is a review of the bathrooms found in Old Sacramento near O'Mally's Pub, which you can find at the address listed above.
Despite having been to Old Sacramento plenty of times before, this was the first time I had ever used this public bathroom and I have to say, it could use some work.
There is graffiti on the walls, although it is minimal, and the floor was covered in liquid. It was rainy that day, so it may not have necessarily been urine, but it is a safety issue either way. The sink worked well and I took note of the divider between the urinals, which was the perfect height to where you could just see the eyeballs and top of the head of the person next to you. I always enjoy brief eye contact and a knowing nod of camaraderie between fellow bathroom users.
The automatic hand drier left something to be desired in terms of intensity, but I have used far worse.
There is also an opening in the wall that I was initially very excited about because it appeared to be an observation window, which I have always said is the future of the public restroom experience. However, upon closer inspection it was revealed to be a means of ventilating the area.I have to confess that I was unable to view the stall because someone was using it and he refused to let me watch and take pictures from under the stall door. If I ever make a return trip, I will be sure to post an update here with an in-depth review of the stall.
However with all of that said, this restroom really sealed the deal on the whole Old Sacramento experience because it is so run down that it feels like you really are using the bathroom in the 1850s. I love this take on the traditional bathroom experience and I would really like to see more public bathrooms that invite the user to immerse themselves in not just the toilet they are using, but the environment that makes that toilet truly special.
Overall I would rate this bathroom as a 5/10, perfectly average.
Wow, great review, Nunya! This blog is so eye-opening and I will definitely be sharing it with all of my constituents!

Thanks, Darrell! Just want to say, I love what you have done with the city of Sacramento and look forward to using more of your toilets in the future.
